Joe's teaching methods are somewhat unconventional with the focus being nurturing interest in the "Art of Guitar" and the pure enjoyment of playing. Weather it's Bach or Rock, he's still just playing!.

COURSE OFFERINGS:

"Dust Off Your Old Six String"
How to adjust, string, tune and play that guitar that’s been collecting dust. Do you have a guitar that’s in good structural shape but has been a little neglected? This group seminar is aimed at getting it into playable condition and get you started with a few new tunes. Students will need a guitar and be able to use basic hand tools. This seminar is a suggested prerequisite for all other seminars.

"What’s Guitar Music Theory? Can’t I just play my darn guitar?"
Its not called PLAYing for nothing. If you would like some basic knowledge of “portable” guitar chords, scales and basic song “formulas” so you can start playing “real” songs today, this group seminar is for you. Suggested prerequisite “Dust Off Your Old Six String”.

"What’s Guitar Music Theory? Can’t I just play my darn guitar, Part Two."
Picking up where “What’s Guitar Music Theory? Can’t I just play my darn Guitar?” leaves off. Expand the portable chord shapes and scales. Learn how to read guitar tabliture and play music in “Fake” books. Suggested prerequisite “Dust Off Your Old Six String”. Prerequisite “What’s Guitar Music Theory? Can’t I just play my darn guitar?”

“I think I’m getting the hang of playing Guitar."
Pick up where “What’s Guitar Music Theory? Can’t I just play my darn Guitar, Part two” left off. Also, learn how to “Cheat” by using simple alternative tunings and capos. Suggested prerequisite “Dust Off Your Old Six String”. Prerequisite “What’s Guitar Music Theory? Can’t I just play my darn Guitar, Part Two.”

BIOGRAPHY:
Joe studied guitar, music theory and music technology at the Illinois Conservatory of Music in Chicago. He’s played in various bands from Heavy Metal to acoustic café acts and about everything in between. He was the lead guitarist for the late 70's Hard Rock band “Blitzkrieg” and currently is the lead guitarist for arena rockers “Sonic Rush".

ichael Hedges, Eric Johnson, Billy McLaughlin, Willy Porter, Rik Emmett, Glen Gerrini (best guitar teacher I ever had), and Steve Morse.
