JENNIE'S BIOGRAPHY:

Jennie Fanney Larsen is a long-time resident of Lodi. Rich in Lithuanian, Russian and German heritage, her family ties have provided a lifetime of experience in garden design, the culinary arts, and creative, artistic skills. Armed with only a degree in Interior Design from UW Madison, a member of the French Culinary Institute, and near completion in the Master Gardener program awarded by the Wisconsin Master Gardener Association, she brings wit and humor, emotion and experience, to every personal enrichment course she teaches. A lover of Wisconsin summers, her goal to savor what's wonderful and beautiful, and tie them over to brighten the winter, makes her life and everyone around her, more inspiring.

Feng Shui Gardens
Feel-Good Gardens. According to the ancient Chinese art of placement called feng shui (meaning "wind and water"), the flow of energy through a garden can have a positive or negative impact on the owner's health and well-being. The goal of feng shui is harness and properly use chi, the "life force" central to feng shui. Learn how to plant a garden that will enhance your life. Limit 10 students. $14.50

Growing An English Cottage Garden
Don't you just love those romantic paintings of the sweet English cottage, with exquisite clusters of flowers, so enchanting you can almost smell them? This class will teach you the English countryside favorites and how to add them to your existing gardens, or begin a new garden using other Cottage Garden favorites such as pickets, hedges, bird baths, trellis', and more. Limit 10 students. $14.50

Planting, Growing, Canning and Freezing Your Own Vegetables
MmmmMmmm! Fresh Vegetables! Fresh and healthy all summer long. Wouldn't you love garden grown sweet corn in the middle of winter? Your own tomatoes for chili? In this class you will learn the basics of vegetable gardening, specific growing requirements of each vegetable, safe fertilizing and insect control, yield expectations, and bed planning. The second session will be held prior to the height of the first canning and processing stage. In this class you will learn (hands-on) the different techniques of freezing and canning the early producers. The third session will be held prior to the end of summer when vegetables such as corn, tomatoes, squash, etc. Late fall vegetables will also be demonstrated. Limit 10 students. $32

Create A Copper Snail Lawn Ornament and Copper Hummingbird Feeder
In this hands-on class you will create a fun, whimsical, copper and glass snail lawn ornament. Choose your color and learn how to shape and wrap copper tubing around colored glass. Then you'll learn how to make a copper and blue glass hummingbird feeder to entice hummers to your own garden art. The feeder is an eye-catching piece to hummers and neighbors alike. Limit 10 students. $24

• STAINED GLASS•

Beginner Stained Glass 101
No skills needed for this class. Bring a friend or neighbor and come join us for this fun and exciting class. See if stained glass is something you would be interested in before making the investment in supplies and tools. We will show you step-by-step instructions on how to cut glass, pattern preparation, foiling, and soldering, in order for you to complete your first stained glass panel or ornament, which you will take home with you. We offer lots of individual instruction, use of shop tools. Limit 6 students. $30

Basic Stained Glass
Learn the art of Stained Glass. This 6 week course will teach you the copper foil technique. We offer step-by-step in-struction on cutting glass, pattern preparation, glass selection, foiling, and soldering, to the final steps of completing your project. This class is for great for those new to stained glass, but for those who wish to learn the entire process. Different glasses, different techniques, lead caming, and more. Limit 6 students. $65

• BACKYARD MOSAICS•

Beginning Patio Stone Class
Create your own beautiful patio stone to line your garden path or just display as art. In this 3 hour class you will learn the skills necessary to create an artistic, colorful patio stone, using preprinted patterns or any pattern you create yourself. You will be instructed in pattern preparation, glass cutting, grouting, cleanup and safety aspects. Materials, patterns, and tools will be provided in the cost. Limit of 6 students. $45

Cast Accent Patio Stone
Create a beautifully designed garden patio stone, with a "3 Dimensional Cast Accent" cast and inserted into the middle. Choose from 12 different cast accent pieces, to create the mysterious or intriguing garden moisac stone. Reference book, patterns, glass, grout, safety glasses will be provided. Unusual colored glass or change in mosaics is extra. Limit of 6 students. $75

Mosaic Address Stone
Transform an ordinary paver stone into an address stone masterpiece! Learn the basics of mosaics while creating a beautiful accent piece for your home. You will have the option of using precut numbers or creating your own. Paver, glass, grout and numbers will be provided. Limit 6 students. $45

• HERBS & TEAS•

The Art of Tea
Growing a Tea Garden and Blending Your Own Herbal Teas. Growing a tea garden can not only be fun, but convenient and incredibly healthy for you. Learn what teas are used in herbal teas today, how to grow them, how to blend them for use at home, and what health and medicinal properties they hold. Sample different herbal tea flavors during the class. All students will leave with 4 plants to start their very own tea garden. Limit 10. $14.50

Herbal Bath Balls
In this class you will make herbal bath bombs using herbs, essential oils, and a fizzing bath bomb base. Learn about aromatherapy blends that relax and soothe. Class includes mold, recipe, instructions and ingredients to make two bath bombs. You keep the mold and recipes. Limit 10. $14.50

Cooking With Wine
Sure you like the flavor of wine, but you're afraid of ruinning a whole roast? Put your fears aside. In this class you'll be cooking red meat, white meats, fish and sauces with 4 different wines. You'll learn how each combination tastes and how wine and herbs can add to the flavor of each dish. You'll learn guidelines for the sequence in which wines and foods are best served, and reliable food and wine combinations. All food and wine will be provided. Limit 8 students. $24

Cooking With Herbs For a Healthy Life
In this class you will be presented with great ways to incorporate herbs into delicious and healthy recipes anyone can cook. Four dishes will be created (beef, turkey, pasta, and vegetables) using herbs that you can grow at home or buy in the store. You will leave the class an expert in knowing which herbs enhance each meat, which blend superbly with vegetables and pasta, and what herbs hold health benefits. As an extra bonus, you will leave with 4 potted herbs to grow on your windowsill. Learn to live a cleaner, healthier life by cooking with herbs. Limit 8 students. $14.50
